Stairs

Stairs are one of the most important parts of any outdoor structure, connecting spaces safely while adding to the overall design. In this gallery, you’ll find real world examples of outdoor stairs built for comfort, durability, and code compliance. From simple step downs to custom staircases on challenging terrain, each project shows how thoughtful planning and quality materials can improve both function and appearance. If you’re thinking about adding or upgrading your stairs, these projects can help guide your plans.

This deck features two sets of custom stairs, each built to match the overall layout and provide safe, long-lasting access to the yard. One side features a wide staircase that creates a strong entry point, built with picture-framed composite treads and wrapped in matching composite fascia, which help protect the stair edges and give a polished finish. On the opposite side, another set of stairs spans the full length of the deck and wraps around the front corner, continuing the same high-end picture-framed design. Both staircases land on a paver patio, tying the deck into the surrounding space with a solid, low-maintenance connection.

This second story staircase creates a safe and seamless connection from the elevated deck to the vibrant backyard below. The stairs are picture-framed with composite treads and wrapped in fascia, combining durability with a finished look that complements the deck. A paver pad at the base ensures a solid foundation and meets Spokane’s code requirement for a 3-foot landing beyond the final step, an important detail for both safety and long-term peace of mind, helping ensure your investment is protected. It’s a practical solution built to last, while blending into the natural landscape.

This staircase was built with a lower rise to create a gentler, more accessible transition from the deck to the paver landing below. Designed for a home in a 55+ community, the stairs prioritize comfort and ease of use, helping residents move between levels with confidence. Lower rise stairs reduce the height of each step, making them more manageable for those with limited mobility or balance concerns. Like many of our projects, the treads are picture framed and wrapped in composite fascia, a signature detail we use to give each staircase a polished, high end appearance. This project shows how stairs can be fully customized to meet specific needs, whether for accessibility, aesthetics, or the surrounding layout. The paver landing not only provides a stable surface but also adds warmth and visual appeal that concrete cannot match.

The right outdoor staircase can improve safety, accessibility, and the overall feel of your space. As these projects show, stairs can be built in a variety of ways depending on layout, mobility needs, and personal style. There is no one size fits all solution. Each design can be tailored to your specific goals and surroundings. Whether you’re thinking about something simple and functional or a statement piece that complements the rest of your deck, we’re here to help. If you’re considering adding or upgrading stairs, we’re happy to walk you through the best options for your space and answer any questions along the way.
